Misophonia Autism

The intersection of misophonia and autism presents unique challenges for individuals experiencing intense reactions to specific auditory triggers like mouth noises and repetitive sounds. While these are distinct conditions, studies show that about 3% of people with misophonia also have autism, and up to 70% of autistic individuals experience sound sensitivities that can significantly impact daily functioning. Effective management strategies include cognitive behavioral therapy, sound therapy, noise-canceling devices, and creating personalized coping plans to reduce environmental triggers.
